Thomas Altamirano is a New York-based interior designer and founder of design firm, Studio Alta. Thomas' signature interiors are distinctively bold, thoughtful in function, visually engaging while experientially soothing. Each personalized space reflects his design philosophy of balancing aesthetics with function through space planning, proportion, color, and light. Thomas creates layered environments and spatial experiences that showcase an interior's architecture, design and art, plus the smallest of decorative details.
Upon receiving his BS in Interior Design in 2005, Thomas moved to New York City to work at nationally and internationally recognized firms. While working at these prestigious firms, Thomas expanded his portfolio to include large corporate offices and commercial spaces, and high-end residential developments. Over the years, his curiosity and ambition led to professional opportunities such as lead designer for HGTV's High-Low Project and creative director for some of IIDA's (International Interior Design Association's) largest events. Thomas' hands-on roots in art and home building can be seen in many of Studio Alta's projects through custom art installations, hand painted murals and custom furniture. It's through this versatility that Thomas can navigate through diverse interiors from innovative commercial spaces to decorative residences.
"Thomas Altamirano is a New York-based, up-and-coming interior designer whose versatility allows him to move easily from strong commercial interiors to playful, yet stylish, residences. His innovative ideas can be seen not only in the elements he uses to create his interior design concepts, but also in the make-up of the furniture he designs and builds. Thomas is a young force within the design community and certainly one to be watched."
